You said it, the hippster word. I was thinking just some talented kids from Palm Beach Fla where there is surf. Who knows maybe they hate surfers? i.e. the name. Either way good album and great name.

Sorry about my cynicism...I just always marvel at "movements" in indie music. Lots of surf-themed songs and band names lately, similar to how every band a couple years ago had an animal name (Wolf Parade, Wolf Mother, Animal Collective, Wilderness, Japanther, etc.)
That being said. These guys are incredible and deserve all the reverence they're receiving — and the $7.99 I spent on their record.
I like surfing, by the way...
