Wish I had a few extra inches on Saturday...

My main mang, Festus Porkmeyer, sent some great pics of his own personal Parmenter Widowmaker on Saturday, and I found them in my mailbox when I got home from a surf session where I was slightly undergunned. Good timing.

How many classic sticks does this guy have?

He also directed me to a website I'd never visited before, http://www.morningoftheearthsurfboards.com/disc.html. Wow. Another site to drool over as the rain pelts the roof...

Thanks, Porky!

Dear (not-so) Macho Man: I am down to seven boards. I had all these visions of stoically subsisting on just three — quad fish, Widowmaker and log —until the arrival of the Liddle ’Tweener, which really shook up the whole program.

Ras: The board is 6’8”. Do you mean the fins are tightly clustered? I borrowed a friend’s 2-and-1 Evolution shortboard, which had a more spread-out cluster, and I felt like I was in a fight with myself on every single wave. The double bottom turns were not Currenesque — or planned. On my quad, I keep the cluster tight, which seems to suit scrawny people. At 5’11”, 155 pounds, I’m no powerhouse.

Doc: Just a fellow masturbator (sorry Diane!) who happens to be a great fan of your blogwork and calming presence on the OSP — although I do think it might be time for you to finally iron things out with Holddown and tell The Betty how you truly feel about her.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and good luck on your art show, Sissypuss.

PS: If you need to turn on the Widowmaker, “just lean over.”

hi festus,

yeah I meant how tight the cluster is. looks like a fun board. cheers and hope you guys get good waves this season. I'm eastcoasting it now, lots of right point breaks, and below freezing air temp. thanks to my friend at All Surf Ind. for the hook on an O'Neil Psycho II hooded for those suppa cold days with 7mm mitts and snow tires, and drive home in your suit cause it's too cold to change after a sesh days.... I miss PBR too.

My, this has become a true love-fest (complete with a little self-love)! Good timing for the holidays. I recommend that we do a group paddle out, join hands and sing Silent Night. The the festivities begin, I'm doing my shopping at Mollusk...

In order to truly love others, you must first love yourself.

Ras: Fall in North SD County, in the shelter of Point Conception, has yet to yield a proper opportunity to ride that thing. But we have had lots of glassy days, with small, peaky crossup swells turning the beachbreaks into playgrounds. And the water temp is still in the low- to mid-60s. <-- I probably shouldn't have mentioned that. Sorry. Cheers to your East Coast adventure.
