Pink Surfer, Blue Board

I have never been tubed. I've tried a handful of times but basically got drilled and never saw an exit. I kept my eyes open on a few of those rare occasions and contrary to the "green room" analogy, saw only white. It looked like I was inside a white bubble with vertical lines running through it. For a second anyway... Then it was just boom.

In the white room...
With green curtains...
At the station...?

Or something like that...

Pulling in to a tube is a pretty good if somewhat rare Oregon experience...by and large...

My advice is to look for one of those heavy offshore days when the waves are lined up and held up...

Pick your line, crouch down, insert your arm into the face of the wave, and wait for the curtain to be drawn...

Don't wait too long or you won't make it out...but when you're ready, pull your arm and race...

That's planning for the tube...other times it'll just happen...backdooring a bigger wave or the wave just throwing out...

Too cool! Am I dating myself with that remark?

Chum, It's so great to see these drawings, I look forward to them, they're excellent.

My two best memories of getting shacked was at trail 6 in SanO on a huge day about 10 years ago and at Cottons on a big South a couple years back.
SanO was a complete cover up that had me in a trance, I stalled and tried to race the lip out, it was a heavy day with big round waves and caught many on the head but that one clean cover up replays in my mind when ever I need to relive it.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate the advice on getting in the tube. I actually had a goal to get tubed by the end of last summer. In my inexperience with Oregon waves, I didn't realize that summer is probably the worst time of year to accomplish that feat. I should say "I will get tubed by next winter." Even then, it would require some special conditions and skill on my part.

Happy St. Pat's!

Chum.
