Bring on the Dancing Horses

Just got back from the doctor, where he put a microphone up to my wife's belly and we heard a sound that bore a striking resemblence to running horses. Time to make the announcement official: There's a little Chum on the way. This whole thing took us by surprise at first, but now we're starting to get used to the idea. I may be having to lean on the advice of some of the surfing papas out there in blogland to figure out how I'll maintain my paddling arms with a baby on board. Baby on board... Hm... How soon until can I start charging tandem with the little sprout?

Congrats man. Don't know how the papas do it. I am too selfish. So awesome for you and your miss.

Congrats man!

Being suprised by the dancing horses myself I can only say it's scary as hell but also the most rewarding thing in life.

The water time will come, you'll work it out. It's the sleep that you're gonna be craving :D

I take little man on recon missions and teach him about currents and conditions. I figure by the time he's 3 he should be pretty dialed.

Mega shakas!

Congratulations from a surfing mama! I can give you tips on ways you can help your wife out so much she'll gladly let you go surfing. But we won't go into that until Baby Chum arrives. Tell your wife I send her my best. You're both in for the best rollercoaster ride of your lives.

Congrats Chum!

It's never too early to start thinking about names and I just want you to know that Jefferina is both lovely and exotic sounding and amazingly uncommon. Of course you could always go with Apple or Gunderson, but why be common?

Thanks for all the kudos and helpful tips. I was thinking Dora would be an excellent name for a girl, but mama already kiboshed it. Guess we'll have to go with Jefferina.

Wild tiny horses couldn't drag you away...from the waves.

Nothing gets your arms and shoulders ripped like repeatedly picking up, holding and hugging your youngling.

Yeah! And I'll get that mysterious "dad strength" that I've seen put to practice so many times!
