Here's my situation:
I sit here in this room all day long
with my brand new surfboard
mocking my inability to ride it.
I hear it laughing at me, man.
The mountain range has been too snowy
for early-morning surf missions.
And I took a bunch of writing gigs
to compensate for some upcoming vacations.
I guess things could be worse...
By all accounts I'm not missing epic surf.
And I'm spending this weekend at the beach.
And I do have a few trips to Mexico planned...

...and the glass job on your board is getting stronger and stronger.

Someone's dropping knowledge...or luring you to a Shanghai surprise.
Chum,
Sorry for not dropping a line for a bit but it's clear, your wife loves you, you're talented as hell, you get a surf a week, just like me and you're going to Mexico. Sounds pretty bloody good to me.
Oh, and the fact that your board sits just behind you? Too good, mine aren't allowed in the house.
and you have a nice lamp
Thanks for the reality check! Not to mention the cool baby I get to play with all day.
I'm really surprised nobody mentioned the stuffed duck...
G, I'm taking you with me to that secret spot... Sounds like I'll need someone to get my back, regardless of if it's a booby trap or not.
Chum, meet me on the 18th green at 9:30pm sharp. I'll give you the info about that spot...and we can go snipe hunting!
Totally snowed and iced so stay home.
That anon post is totally bogus.
Now this is getting ridiculous a Hillsbro kook claiming on a Portland my space site. Surf is so good come and get at $3.75 a gallon!
I guess this is the point where I have to step in and:
a. Remove the directions to the surf spot (which indeed seems to be real).
b. Remove the link to the photo of said surf spot.
Tempers alway flare when spots are named and directions given on public sites. Inevitably, K-bombs start to fly.
Thanks though, anon #1, for the tip. Appreciate the thought.
Chum
Oh, and this isn't really Myspace. I can give you directions there if you want though.
I liked your board so much that I'm having Mani shap me one just like that, except a 2+1 setup.
I used an art image of yours on Surfy Surfy today, I hope you don't mind.
That story Porky tells on your blog is one of the best ever... He let me buy his Parmenter for a song, but funny, he never told me he was going to hawk an Octafish!!
Glad you liked my new Mani-machine. Coming from a guy like you who sees the best surfboards in the world everyday, that's some serious love.
chum, my spot has creditials. check magicseaweed.com and look under longbeach, wa. thats about as close as ill let you get, you can sniff out the rest on your own.

That's lame. I know Chum won't post pics of the spot even if he goes and surfs it. I know where you're referring to. And it isn't something you should be commenting on in this arena.
In my opinion.
How do you know he's posted pics named spots even given directions. Read some of his stuff before he started getting hastled. No valley boys gonna get it. Stay home!
Good, loving wife, cool baby, writing gigs, surf trips
planned, mandala on top of Barcelona day bed....
You're doing alright brother!
fsacto
i know where the line is and i havent crossed it. im just tryin to get some company out here every once in a while. The three sealions that frequent this spot arent much for conversation anymore, we've said all there is to say these last five years.
Dear Anonymous hater number whatever,
It's true I used to post about where I surfed before I knew better. And if you have been as attentive as you pretend you are, you'll also notice that those spots are Shorties, PC, and maybe the Cove. If you need directions to any of those locations, check the fricken web, stormriders guide, the evening news in portland, ask a grandma walking down the street in hillsboro (she'll know where people surf in Oregon). As for the countless other spots I do surf, you're not going to find directions or names or photos that reveal locations.
And by the way, since you know my blog so well, I should probably thank you for being a fan.
